Gasonline engine oil and Diesel engine oil do have the same function in its use, namely as a lubricant in the engine. But did you know that the two types of lubricating oil turned out to have differences. That difference makes each engine has its own lubricating needs.
The fundamental difference between diesel engine oil and gasoline engine oil is in the viscosity and detergent content. Where Diesel oil has a thicker viscosity and more detergent content than gasoline engine oil. Diesel oil needs thicker viscosity and more detergent to be able to withstand high engine temperatures and this requires very high compression.
